Muriel Bauer
MA, Dipl. Psych., UKCP, BACP, ICF
I am a psychotherapist and life coach with many years of experience.
I offer a safe and confidential space where you are accepted for who you are and invited to step into who you could be. Therefore, whatever your issues, you can feel completely supported and contained.
I work in English and in French (and studied Spanish, German and Russian). I am used to assisting adults from the most varied social and cultural backgrounds.
An integrative & warm approach
As a therapist, my approach is integrative and transpersonal. I don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ philosophy as I draw from a large variety of psychological schools of thought to suit your individual needs (humanistic, existential, transpersonal, jungian, etc).
Beyond theory, I believe that treating someone with warmth, compassion and acceptance without judgment or criticism allows the person to explore and work through what are sometimes painful or difficult feelings.
Aware of current ecological challenges, I am an active member of the emerging field of Eco-therapy and put our connection with Nature at the core of our psychological health.
A holistic style
I work in a holistic way, aware that as human beings, our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual sides are all inter-connected.
To facilitate change, I may use with your permission various tools such as:
- guided visualisation, art and dream work
- mindfulness, meditation and body awareness
- family constellations (trans-generational therapy)
- EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping).
I am particularly interested in a body awareness approach called Somatic Experiencing (SE), which helps move beyond the cognitive process of understanding our trauma. It’s a process that reprograms the body’s primitive survival instincts, allowing one to feel a greater sense of connection, safety, and ease in one’s body. As its founder Dr. Levine has written, “Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.”
Experience
After a Master in International Relations and Sustainable Development, I originally worked in the corporate world. I then retrained in 2005 in London as a psychotherapist and life coach.
I set up a private practice, dealing with issues such as self-esteem, depression, relationships, work and parenting problems. Additionally, I created and facilitated workshops entitled “Enhancing Self-Esteem for Women”. I lived in Singapore from 2012 to 2020 where I founded a thriving practice working in service of the expatriate and local people. Back in London, I am now working online for the UK and international community all around the world.
